Park Creek Center

Park Creek Center's philosophy comes from the heart and our love of our families. We are a relaxed, casual and cozy assisted living community. Our support services are designed to balance a resident's lifestyle both physically and emotionally. Park Creek is a retirement community that will meet all the needs of the senior adult and serve as a resource for the entire family.

When a resident of or visitor to Park Creek Retirement talks to David Prech, the head janitor at the 57-unit assisted care facility, they're also speaking to the administrator who's in charge. And when they speak to assistant administrator Barbara Ruff, they're also speaking to the person who doubles up as food service coordinator and cooks for the
residents on a daily basis. "We do this by choice," Prech said about Park Creek management's hands-on style "It keeps us close to the residents. They know that they can talk to us at any time."

Located at 10064 N. Church Drive in Parma Heights, a two-minute drive from Parmatown Mall and Parma Hospital, Park Creek has 39 one-person Studio suites and 18 1-bedroom apartments. Prech notes that since it's opening in 1985, Park Creek Retirement has remained under local owner control. That is rare in this industry, dominated by large, corporations that own many facilities and often franchise their operations nationwide. The friendly, caring atmosphere of Park Creek is due in large part to the closeness of the 30-person staff to the residents, which is illustrated in many ways, Prech said. "We have many testimonial letters from residents and their families when the father or mother had to move on to an extended care facility to get more care than we can provide," Prech said. "We have many letters from families in that situation thanking us for helping them find a quality long-term care facility, and thanking us for the quality of the care we gave their mother or father here."

The friendly, caring atmosphere of Park Creek is no accident. Unlike most retirement facilities, which constantly deal with extremely high employee turnover, Park Creek has many long-term employees. Prech, for example, has been the administrator for nine years, taking the position because he was so impressed with the care his mother received there, and Ruff has been assistant administrator for 18 years. Believing in the old adage that seeing is believing, Prech invites anyone looking into a retirement facility for themselves or for their parents to schedule a tour of Park Creek and enjoy a complimentary lunch. Call (440) 842-5100. "And if someone can't call ahead," he added, "you can just stop in."
