About Nancy

Nancy WalkerNancy Tillery Walker is the owner and manager of Knox Care Management. Ms. Walker worked over 30 years in the public sector as a care manager, care manager supervisor and director of Geriatric Care Management Services when she decided to open a care management practice where she would be free of imposed restrictions and would be able to offer comprehensive services.

Before entering the field of Care Management, Ms. Walker worked at Lakeshore Mental Health Institute where she coordinated an innovative program that moved patients with no family or discharge options, to the community where they lived and worked together. For her contributions to the program, Ms. Walker was chosen to receive the following awards:

~ Outstanding Tennessean Award from the governor of TN

~ Employee of the Year for the Tennessee State Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation (now called the TN Dept. of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities)

~ Employee of the Year for Lakeshore Mental Health Institute

Ms. Walker worked as a case manager and case manager supervisor at The Helen Ross McNabb Mental Health Center before leaving to direct care management and counseling program at the Knox County Office on Aging where she worked for over 15 years.

Ms. Walker is passionate about working with older persons, and she possesses the essential qualities of both patience and compassion that has allowed her to become someone that clients and families can trust and rely upon.

She has an innate ability to relate to her clients in an engaging, heartfelt, and positive manner. She brings out the best in them, while helping them deal with their frustrations and difficulties. She has developed a remarkable network of contacts to help find the ideal solution for each family.

As a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, she is held to the highest ethical standards. Ms. Walker also maintains membership in the Southeast Chapter of Geriatric Care Managers, the National Council on Aging, the National Association of Social Workers and the Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare.

Ms. Walker has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Tennessee, and an MPH in Public Health with a concentration in Gerontology.

She has been a Certified Geriatric Care Manager (Certification through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers) since 1999 and has been recertified every 3 years since that time. She holds the distinctive honor of being the only certified geriatric care manager in the greater Knoxville area.
