“When you need care the most, we are right by your side.”

“Compassionate Care in the Comfort of Home”

“A Genuine Bed Side Manner”

“Our waiting room is your living room.”

Beltway Physicians, Inc. (BPI), a registered member of the American Association of Home Care Physicians, is a medical practice committed to providing high quality and compassionate diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients in the comfort of their own homes.

Founded in, 2003 by William James Crittenden, MD, BPI began to address the overwhelming need for more compassionate and personalized patient care, in a field that seemed more concerned with numbers than people.

Ironically the fastest yet under served groups in the United States are the elderly and the homebound. As far as health care delivery, these groups are most marginalized in the delivery of health care. Traveling to crowded medical offices, clinics, and/or emergency rooms for a perfunctory and brief examination can be impractical and undeserving for a cherished segment of our society. Moreover, the out-of-pocket expenses related to transportation and caregiver's time are often unrewarding.

It became Dr. Crittenden’s goal to revolutionize medical care through the most fundamental tradition of medicine: house calls. BPI is his answer.

WHAT WE DO

Beltway Physicians are trained, licensed and highly qualified physicians that offer virtually the same services as a patient may receive at a doctor’s office or clinic, without the hassle of leaving their home and with less out-of-pocket expense for the patient.

The most important benefit to receiving a house call from Beltway Physicians is that each patient receives truly personalized care from a doctor that has the advantage of observing the patient’s environment in a way that facilitates a comfortable dialogue with the patient as well as the caregivers.

A commitment to providing patients with the most comprehensive and compassionate care available is paramount. We will work closely with a patient’s caregivers, family members and other doctors to ensure that their concerns and wishes are addressed with the utmost dignity and respect.

The experience of Beltway Physicians serves to improve many facets of home healthcare. First physician-patient relationship enhances dialogue with caregivers and/or relatives present in the patient's home environment. This facilitates a comfort level in discussing any concerns and reflects a deeper level of compassion compared to a brief office visit. Additionally, the visiting physician can further coordinate complex home care needs of the patient with visiting nursing companies. Home physical therapy for gait training and wound management for bedsores are examples of this. On a national scale, the cost of home care is less than the cost of hospital, emergency room, and nursing home admissions. This saving is also illustrated by treatment of certain chronic diseases at home compared to the medical office or clinic.

How can Beltway Physicians do this? Through the portability of existing medical diagnostic equipment physicians can treat and diagnose at the bedside, thus making medical decision-making less challenging. Blood testing, also done at the bedside, facilitates laboratory assessment in the diagnosing of diseases. Also with the coordination of home care companies the visiting physician can appropriately order home-based services derived from his assessment of how the homebound patient interacts with this environment. Patient records and physician notes are entered into an electronic medical record rather than a paper-based chart. This is not only HIPPA compliant but reduces the need for transporting bulky charts on every home visit and makes data filing efficient. It is the belief of Beltway Physicians that cooperation with all healthcare personnel involved in the care of the homebound patient creates a quality of healthcare that is unmatched in today's demanding medical environment.

  • Diabetes
