William D. Hord

Elderly veterans and their surviving spouses benefit greatly from consultation about their need for assisted living care. Many of them do not even know that the Department of Veterans Affairs offers a pension benefit that helps offset the costs of such care.

It is important that this consultation be done with someone who understands that the VA's Aid-and-Attendance pension is not a welfare program. Rather than supplementing poverty, this benefit is intended help wartime veterans avoid poverty.

Bill Hord is an award-winning journalist who has devoted his senior years to helping veterans understand this benefit and how best to seek it. There is no charge for an initial discussion.
