About Me
I had a successful 20-year military career and entered into corporate America in 1992. My career there was also very successful, going through 5 major acquisitions. Each new company brought promotions, better benefits, and increased responsibilities and pay. In my last job I was a Technical Director with a nice 6 figure income and managed a $15M budget with 150 people working for me across the US. Without warning, I was laid off in May 2014. Rumor was that the company had a cash call on Wall Street that they could not meet, so they laid off everyone who was not directly billable to the government. I thought getting a new job would be easy with the skills I had acquired over the last 43 years. I would get interviews, and the hiring managers would tell me they couldn't afford me (what??). Severance pay ran out, unemployment ran out, and after 18 months I still could not find a job. I took a job as a $10 per hour armed security guard to put food on the table.
In the fall of 2015, I got a cold call from a Franchise Coach who asked me if I had ever thought of owning my own business - I thought he was crazy, but he convinced me to meet with him. One thing led to another and in April 2016 we opened House Doctors of Colorado Springs. We are making a difference for homeowners in Colorado Springs, providing top notch repairs to their homes.
